Overcoming Shame
"From now on, therefore, we regard no one from a human point of view...if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new." II Corinthians 5:16

The Lie of Lack Leads to Shame
Shame entered the human race when the woman and man ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Today, we can get free from the lies of shame when we eat from the Tree of Life. Consider these facts:
-
The woman ate from the tree because she believed two lies: (1) God was withholding something she needed, and, (2) because God had not really made her in His image, she had to eat from the tree so she could be more like God.
-
A third lie she believed was that her husband was also not like God and needed to do something about that.
She believed the lie of lack. When we accept the lies that we don't have the resources God promised and we are not really like Him, we accept a spirit of poverty and lack. When our spirits believe we are in lack, we accept shame. Shame leads to fear of being seen, which leads to religion and control and all the many other ways we can hide who we really are and put up a front for all to see.
Fullness in Christ Leads to a Secure Identity
Jesus came to redeem all things. When Adam and Eve sinned, their spirits went dark and experienced lack and shame. Jesus took our lack and shame to the cross so that we can be restored to knowing we have no lack or shame with our Father.
Only our Father can show us who we really are.
