Once darkness, now light
Our spirits came from God, created like Him with His nature. But sin eventually will permeate our spirits with darkness until Jesus helps us. When we believe into the Lord Jesus Christ and are water baptized into Him, we enter into His crucifixion, His death, His burial, His resurrection, and His ascension, and we are, by faith, seated with Him in heavenly places at the right hand of the Father.
Crucified, Buried and Resurrected with Him
Romans 6 tells us that death is necessary to deal with the sin in our lives and that death happens at water baptism. Our death was the only way out of our sins! When are you ready for water baptism? You're ready for water baptism when you're ready to die. Die to your old way of life in the darkness of this world and ready to fully surrender to Jesus Christ and His ways, to follow your King wherever He leads.
The Lord Jesus Christ died for you and me, and He included us in His death. When we enter into the water, by faith, we die. When we pass through the water and rise up out of the water, the old me is buried and separated from the new me, and I enter into His resurrection. The water is like a tomb, a grave. We become one with Him in His death, burial, and resurrection. Glory!!
